Kap was planted at the four Devales in Kandy as a prelude to the National Ritual -Kandy Esala Maha Perahera.
The planting of the Kap took place at Sri Maha Vishnur . Natha, Kataragama and Goddess Pathini.
The Basnayake Nilames Mahen Ratwatte, Bandranaike, Herath and udurawana were present and the Diyawadna Nilame Dela also participated at the planing of ‘ Kap ‘ , though ” Kap ” is not planted at Sri Dalada Maligawa.
Planting of ” Kap ” is a Hindu ritual brought into the country by the Naykkar Kings who ruled the Kandyan Kingdom and the first Devale in the Kandyan Kingdom was Natha Devale.
