Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya Professor M.D.Lamawansa has been conferred an Honorary F.R.C.S by the Royal College of Physicans and Surgeons of Glascow at a Convocation held at the Universtiy of Glascow, Scotland on 5th September 2023

Each year, the University of Glasgow bestows such accolades on individuals who have made exceptional achievements and contributions to society, especially in the field of medicine. The distinguished recognition conferred upon Professor Lamawansa signifies his yeoman service in the fields of surgery and medicine at levels of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education both at the national and international levels, by his consistent dedication t towards advancing pediatric renal transplant, development of strong international collaborations while serving as the President of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka.
