Sri Lanka Army handed over nearly twenty thousand  kilos of ‘Copra’

Sri Lanka Army handed over nearly twenty thousand  kilos of ‘ Copra ” ( dried split coconut pieces ) to be used during the Annual Esala Maha Peerhera ritual to the Diyawadna Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela.
A token amount to represent the Army’s spontaneous commitment was handed over at the Drummers Hall or Hewisis Mandapaya  by the Army Commander Lt: General Vikum Liyange to the Diyawadana Nilame.
Yearly since 2014, Vijayabaha Regiment had been donating these dried cconut pieces for the use during the night to illuminate the Kandy Esala Perahera.
Photraph shows the handing over the token ‘ copra ‘ to the Diyawadana Nilame by the Army Commander.
In appreciation of ths yearly donation, the Diyawadana Nilame presented a token gift in the form of a Buddha Statue to the Army Commander.
